The Emergency Care Center at CVPH treats approximately 50,000 patients per year. Emergent/urgent classifications of patients are treated in a 16-bed department that has state-of-the-art equipment and design to support patient care efforts. There are 3 trauma/cardiac bays and 13 multipurpose rooms.
The department has a Behavioral Health Crisis Service, which evaluates and treats 3,000 patients per year. Patients are case managed in a separate, 3-bed discrete area.
The department also provides observation medicine service in a 6-bed Clinical Decision and Treatment Unit. This area is designed to maximize efficiency and therefore, support quality, timely care to patients meeting criteria for observation.
CVPH is a Designated Area Trauma Center in the NYS Lifestar Trauma System. A total of 10.3 physician FTES, 50 nurses and 4 Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioners staff the Emergency Care Center. All staff members are required to successfully complete BLS and ALS Courses. Staff is also provided with ENPC, TNCC and PALS training.
EMT of CVPH, Inc. is a hospital affiliated ambulance company, which works with the Emergency Services team to provide pre-hospital emergency care to residents of Clinton County. The service presently has 25 FTEs and 5 ambulances.
