The Medical Center added two new high-speed multi-slice CT scan units in 2001. One is located at the CVPH Health Plaza, the other within the Radiology Department on the main campus. Both represent state-of-the-art technology of a high quality rarely found anywhere.
Routine testing is incredibly quick. Equally impressive is the scope of testing available. Software upgrades are made with regularity.
One example of the advanced capabilities of these units is cardiac scoring, a technique to evaluate the coronary arteries for calcium deposits that can lead to atherosclerosis and eventual heart attack. Non-invasive virtual endoscopy procedures are also available.
