The primary focus of the medical/surgical portion of R6 is on the orthopedic and neurologically impaired patient. The pediatric unit serves all infants, toddlers, children and young adults between the ages of newborn to 21.
The unit's mission is to provide clinical medical/surgical expertise, education and support in the management of orthopedic and neurological patients and to provide family-centered care for children and their Providers. Pediatrics encourage the active participation of parents/families in the care of their child. Accommodations are available for a family member to stay with their child during a hospitalization.
This unit is equipped with 35 beds total. 28 beds (8 private, 10 semiprivate) compose R6/med-surg. 7 private rooms in the south corridor are designated for pediatrics.
