Sub Acute Rehabilitation On The Skilled Nursing FacilityRehabilitation Services also serves the Skilled Nursing Facility of the hospital. This unit cares for long term patients, but also admits patients for shorter term stays before they go home.
For short-term patients, we tailor our treatment to what you will need to be able to do in order to be successful at home. We emphasize education to you and your family, so that you can continue to maintain your function at home. For long-term patients we emphasize how you can maintain the highest level of independence and quality of life while living in our facility.
Typically, the physical therapist will work with you on ambulation, leg strength, walking stairs, endurance, balance etc., while the occupational therapist will address your ability to do your self care and other daily activities like dressing, bathing, toileting, folding laundry, kitchen activities etc. If you ave problems with language or swallowing, the speech language pathologists will work with you to restore those functions.
