Women's health and wellness during the perimenopausal years demands the expertise of highly qualified health care providers. The Center for Women and Children has the right mix of committed nursing and medical professionals to meet the unique needs of women who may require gynecologic, urinary, reconstructive or general surgery. These may include laporoscopic diagnostic procedures; hysterectomy, both vaginal and abdominal; tubal reanastimosis; urinary reconstructive procedures; cholecystectomy, breast reduction; and hernia repair. Knowing the concerns that women have whenever a surgical intervention is necessary helps our staff to better support, teach and care for those special needs during the post-operative period.
Staff members at the Center are keenly aware of the changes a woman will experience as she moves through this time of her life. To assist in educating women on the many health and wellness topics that are so important, the Center provides a Mobile Women's Resource Library that moves to the patient's bedside for personal and individual patient teaching. The Library has several books, pamphlets and videos on the subjects of perimenopause, osteoporosis, estrogen replacement, and urinary incontinence. To help women through the maze of health information, we offer a suggested reading list and a selection of Internet sites as additional resources:
