CVPH Thoracic & Vascular Surgery is dedicated to the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of all diseases of the chest.
The thorax is the upper part of your body and contains your heart and lungs. From lung cancer to benign lesions of the chest wall, we will partner with you to formulate the best possible plan of care. You are not alone.
We partner with you while guiding you through the management of your condition. Though sometimes diseases of the lung can be very complicated, we take pride in our bedside manner and believe educating our patient using clear and simple terms is as important as the evidence-based treatment plan that you and your loved ones will help formulate as engaged members of the team.
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer, the number one cause of cancer-related death in the United States, is most commonly caused by smoking. Lung cancer is an abnormal growth of the cells of the lung, robbing surrounding tissue of nutrients and ultimately disabling the protective processes of the body.
Early detection of lung cancer has a high rate of cure in the right surgical hands and CVPH Thoracic & Vascular Surgery is standing by to take care of you and your loved ones.
Benign Lung Tumors & Diseases
Not all tumors are malignant (cancerous) and patients should seek the guidance of an experienced professional immediately upon detection. As our imaging modalities continue to improve, it is very common to find a solitary lung nodule and the majority of these small masses should be closely monitored (and not surgically corrected).
In the event that surgical treatment is necessary, CVPH Thoracic & Vascular Surgery will help guide you and your family through this often complex process.
Mediastinal (Chest) Tumors & Diseases
The mediastinum is comprised of the upper and lower part of the thorax and can also be prone to various conditions. Many of these conditions can be diagnosed and treated by Video-Assisted Thorascopic Surgery or VATS.
VATS is a very safe way for a surgeon to evaluate the mediastinum and determine if further treatment is necessary using what amounts to a camera on the end of a very flexible stick.
Pleural Disease
The covering of the lungs is called the pleura and can be subject to a significant number of pathologic conditons.
Plication of the Diaphragm for Paralysis
For various reasons, the diaphragm can elevate into the cavity of the lungs and compress them. Luckily, there are fairly simple and minimally-invasive procedures to correct this condition.
