Labor & Delivery

Our zero separation practice offers your baby the best and safest place for him or her to meet the new world.

Our five private labor and delivery rooms are designed for your comfort and support our family-friendly philosophy. These spacious rooms offer a warm, home-like aesthetic. Mothers have access to state-of-the-art birthing beds, jet tubs, birthing balls and a staff who specialize in caring for the unique physical and emotional needs of laboring mothers. Our Labor and Delivery includes an operating room and recovery area for mothers who give birth via Cesarean section.

All mothers are encouraged to develop a birthing plan and our team will work with you and your physician or midwife to provide the desired safe and satisfying experience.

Pain Management

There are a variety of pain management options available to you. Discussing your options with your physician or midwife in advance is important and having a birth plan is always a good idea. We understand, however, that labor can be unpredictable. We can work with you and your physician or midwife to assure your comfort during the birth of your baby.

Zero Separation

Studies show that the first hour of your baby’s life is crucial to bonding, brain development and stabilization after birth. The staff of the Alice T. Miner Women & Children's Center will provide you and your baby with uninterrupted time to start getting to know each other.  This zero separation practice offers your baby the best and safest place for him or her to meet the new world – with you. When you're ready, after this initial magical hour, you can begin to introduce your family and friends to the baby.

A Special Lullaby

You'll be given the option to announce the birth of your newest addition by prompting a lullaby to play throughout the hospital!

Virtual Tours

To limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community, Labor and Delivery has created a virtual tour of the Alice T. Miner Women and Children’s Center. The tour helps give women planning to give birth at CVPH an idea of what their stay will be like. Below is a series of video tours led by Labor and Delivery Nurse Tammy LaMora, RNC, CBE.

Tammy also teaches child birth classes and was providing regular in-person tours of the Women and Children’s Center before the pandemic. You can watch the entire tour below – or choose any of the five sections to watch at your leisure.
