Supporting Departments

Patients and families often want to give back to a hospital department or program that has made a difference in their life.  Gifts can be made to The Foundation to be used by a particular department within the hospital.  The following is a list of the various departments and how donations are making a difference:

• Alice T. Miner Women & Children's Center - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care. 
• Ambulatory Surgery Center - Supports patient and staff educational programs.
• Cardiology - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - This fund is dedicated to making a child's stay in the unit more comfortable by purchasing items that are safe, educational and entertaining.
• Emergency Department - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Employee Education Fund - Allows staff to continue their education by attending conferences and seminars to further their knowledge and skills for patient care.
• FitzPatrick Cancer Center - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• H. K. Freedman Renal Center (KDU) - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Lab Educational Fund - Provides the Lab with the necessary funds to send employees to various educational programs.
• Medical Library - Supports the purchase of educational materials for the medical library.
• Psychiatry  - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Peri-operative Services (OR) - Supports important patient and staff educational programs.
• Pediatrics - Supports important patient and staff educational programs as well as special equipment and incidentals that can enhance a child's stay at the hospital.
• Pharmacy - Supports important patient and staff educational programs.
• R3 Nursing Floor - Funds patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• R4 Nursing Floor - Funds patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• R5 Nursing Floor - Funds patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• R6 Nursing Floor - Funds patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• R7 Nursing Floor - Funds patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Radiology Department - Supports important patient and staff educational programs.
• Radiology School - Supports the purchase of new learning tools and provides scholarships to students at the Radiology School at CVPH.
• Skilled Nursing Facility - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.
• Women's Imaging Center - Funds important patient and staff education programs, small equipment and incidentals that improve patient care.

Endowed Funds & Special Programs

• The following is a list of endowed funds and special programs that The Foundation is proud to have:
• Bill Shene Asthma & Respiratory Fund – provides support for individuals in our region who suffer from respiratory diseases.
• Dr. Robert L. Collins Memorial Fund - This fund endows an annual lecture to provide educational information on a health care related topic in support of educational enhancement for employees of CVPH..
• David P. Reuter Free Helmet Fund - Each year bicycle helmets are purchased and distributed to children in the North Country free of charge.
• Janice McLean Employee Assistance Fund – Provides interest free loans to CVPH employees who are enduring a financial hardship.  In extreme circumstances, a gift is made to an employee.
• Rabin Fund – For those who may not be able to afford it, the Rabin Fund provides incidentals to patients at CVPH to make their stay more comfortable.
• Safe Kids Adirondack - A coalition of community members, which work as a team to prevent unintentional childhood injuries. Annually the group focuses on pedestrian safety, child passenger safety and bicycle safety.
• Craig L. Sample Fund - Funds will support the education of staff employees within the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
• Treasure Chests - Breast Cancer Survivor Group - A dynamic group of breast cancer survivors which hosts guest speakers and also uses the funds to purchase educational items for newly diagnosed patients.
• Zaferakis Family Fund – Provides educational support to staff of the FitzPatrick Cancer Center and the R5 oncology unit.
