Registration Open for CVPH Foundation Shamrock Shuffle
Annual event at Valcour Brewing will support CVPH Kids Closet
PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Shamrock Shuffle 5K, sponsored by The Foundation of CVPH and Adirondack Coast Events, takes place Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. and will help keep the hospital’s Kids Closet filled with small teddy bears, activities, books and other toys that bring comfort to children while in the hospital. Shamrock themed bib pick up starts at 10 am.
“The items in our Kids Closet provide much needed comfort to the youngest patients in our Emergency Department and those visiting family members who are at the end of life. Our social workers, nurses and palliative care team often are taking teddy bears and books for children about loss of a loved one. We have heard that those teddy bears and books have meant so much to these children during very difficult times,” explained Foundation Events & Special Projects Manager Michelle Senecal.
Registration is $27.50 for the annual fundraiser that begins and ends at Valcour Brewing Company and can be completed online at AdirondackCoastEvents.com.
The Shamrock Shuffle is a 2-loop race that creates a flat, fast route. The first 50 finishers, age 21 and older, will receive a free beer courtesy of Valcour Brewing. Prizes will be awarded to top three male and female finishers.
Senecal described the annual Shamrock Shuffle as a fun way for the community to support initiatives that make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Proceeds from previous Shuffles have helped to support the Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit, The Foundation’s Travel Fund, CVPH Cardiology and bassinets for the Women and Children’s Center.
“We are fortunate to be part of a community that believes in helping others and comes together (at events like this) to make a difference in lives of their friends and neighbors,” said CVPH Associate Vice President of Philanthropy Kerry Haley.
