CVPH Earns ACR Ultrasound Accreditation
National recognition highlights team’s commitment to quality and exceptional patient care
PLATTSBURGH, NY — The University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Vascular Ultrasound Program has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems.
The CVPH service conducts an average of 1,000 ultrasound studies a year. It provides a non-invasive, real-time imaging method to assess the health of blood vessels. Vascular ultrasound is instrumental in the early detection and diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD), aneurysms, deep vein thrombosis and other vascular conditions. Early diagnosis offers opportunities for timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.
“This accreditation demonstrates to our patients and referring providers that this team maintains the highest standards when it comes to quality and safety. It’s a tremendous accomplishment – one that shines a light on their commitment to quality care,” said CVPH President Michelle LeBeau.
The service is located within the CVPH Wound Center at 89 Plaza Blvd., Suite 102.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific requirements based on
ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported back to the facility and provide the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
