Document Delivery

When the book or article you need is not readily available through our collections, there are several other options for acquiring it. This includes obtaining it from another institution or purchasing it from the publisher.  The Regional Medical Library participates in the National Library of Medicine's DOCLINE interlibrary loan and document delivery program.  In most cases, articles are sent right to your email.  Document delivery services will be provided in accordance with copyright regulations.  The Regional Medical Library is a member of the Northern New York Library Network (NNYLN), a consortium of more than 50 academic, hospital, public, special and other libraries around the region, which provides another opportunity to borrow and lend materials.

Literature Searches

The medical librarian can perform specialized, in-depth literature searches of the professional medical literature using National LIbrary of Medicine's PubMed database, UpToDate, CINAHL Complete and other resources, as well as our individual journals.  Results can be sent right to your email.

New Issue and Table of Contents Notification

The Regional Medical Library subscribes to a variety of online nursing and biomedical journals.  Visit our Online Journals page to see all of our currently subscribed titles and a link to the current issue.  Most journals provide email alerts when new issues become available.  Never miss an issue - visit your favorite journal's page and sign up for new issue notification.

Instruction Sessions

Speak with the librarian about scheduling a training session to meet your needs.  Topics include targeted database searching, citation assistance, copyright basics, and locating health information on the Internet. Suggestions for other topics are always welcome.

Copyright Advisement

The Regional Medical Library is your copyright resource center and staff are encouraged to be versed in best practices for using copyrighted material.  The Copyright Clearance Center is a great resource for questions about copyright, including their brief videos about different scenarios that may arise.  In addition, speak with the medical librarian about your options for when you need to obtain multiple copies of copyrighted content or if you want to show a videoclip during a meeting.  Have questions about fair use - just ask!  Check out this brief video to learn more about copyright basics.  Bottom line...when in doubt, seek permission.
