Some patients enjoy and appreciate visitors while others prefer and benefit from the opportunity to rest and recuperate. Times are very different today from years past when lengths of stay were one or two weeks or more and visiting was an expected obligation. Now patients have short stays and when they are hospitalized they often are far short of being at the top of their game from a social aspect.
When you do visit, please comply with visiting hours, be considerate of the person you are visiting and other patients, and please do not visit if you are ill yourself and potentially contagious. Hospital patients often are particularly vulnerable to acquiring infections. No one wants to prolong a friend or family members illness by spreading germs.
