CT scans, also know as CAT scans, use special x-ray equipment to obtain cross-section images of the body and organs. This is a scheduled procedure which may or may not come with a prep kit. You may be asked to refrain from eating or drinking anything for a few hours before your appointment. Your physician will give you specific instructions. Some assessments require drinking liquid material called barium the night before and one hour before your appointment time. Please be sure to follow all instructions to prevent any rescheduling.

CT scans, two on the main campus and one at Valcour Imaging offer convenience as well as quality imaging.. Each represent state-of-the-art technology of a high quality rarely found anywhere. Routine testing is incredibly quick. Equally impressive is the scope of testing available. Software upgrades are made with regularity and staff are highly trained, compassionate and caring.

One example of the advanced capabilities of these units is cardiac scoring, a technique to evaluate the coronary arteries for calcium deposits that can lead to atherosclerosis and eventual heart attack. Non-invasive virtual endoscopy procedures are also available.
